  • There are something like 1.4 billion catholics in the world there is going to be all kinds of examples for you to call it a “systemic issue” when there is literally no part of the system that encourages this. If you actually cared you would look at schools which have a much higher number of molested kids. And no government schools is about them being government run not some kind of public run thing.

I love how you guys just cant not think about trump for one moment. Rent free.

  • That is a long wiki page, you will need to point to the part you are referring to.

If you want to point to institutions with pedo problem, then you should look at government schools which have much more than churches. But I think this is more about ragging on religious institutions than actually understanding what is happening.

  • Its just going to be a daily struggle like anything having to do with parenting. We had one 10ish year old kid find a way around the locks we put on it and they went directly for video games and porn in the middle of the night, but we caught it because we were paying attention. Its hard but if you actually care about your kids development and protection you can do it. Also its good to find other parents that are actively doing the same things so your kid doesnt just get to access porn via a friend.

  • It is insanity that most parents let their kids have social media and smart phones. I have kids, and it was an expectation that they would not have either of these things until they were adults (if they chose). Most of the parents I am around and spend time with also dont let their kids have these things. There are phones for when they get older that allow them to have something like a smart phone but its restricted and parents have total oversight. I really dont think its a big deal if that is the expectation you give to your kids, and the kids can even see how unhealthy the phone habits of their peers are.

  • Its not an ideological statement, it is a comment on the structure of the organizations and how they have to work to survive. Corporations need to do things efficiently or they disappear, the reason large companies are able to be so inefficient is that they are propped up by the government. But the big corporations still have to be more efficient than the other giant companies or their business gets taken.

When it comes to the government they can have irrational requirements and ways of doing things, and since they allegedly are beholden only to the voters (who dont have a clue what is happening) then they can be as inefficient as they want. An example that is non monetary is how the police will investigate themselves and find they did nothing wrong, they only have an incentive to protect themselves and their own people.
