On Thursday, the Senate Judiciary Committee moved forward a bill called the Cooper Davis Act that would make tech companies report users suspected of criminal drug activity to the DEA.

Don’t reuse usernames for accounts. Have throwaway email addresses. Use a VPN, such as PIA that doesn’t have logging. Keep personally identifiable information away from your account. These are a few options that can aide in keeping yourself safe. There are more steps you can take, but I’m going to assume for most of the small fish out there, you aren’t worth investigating for minir possession charges.
