I have a friend who has been using an e-cigarette for 10+ years. He doesn’t seem any less addicted to smoking as back when he was using old-fashioned cigarettes.

I understand e-cigarettes are supposed to help you quit… but has anyone actually had success with them? Or, is it more like trading one vice for another?

They do not help you quit. They can help you control the amount of nicotine you’re taking in. From my personal experience, it was harder to quit vaping than cigarettes.

I actually found that ecigs made my lungs feel worse that actual cigarettes, I don’t know if it was popcorn lung or what, but it made my chest feel incredibly tight, and it didn’t matter the juice type/brand or strength. I’ve resigned that sheer will power is the only way I’ll quit.
