Historical fiction?

I don’t think any of the post is right. I have read the Bible cover to cover a couple of times. And it is very much not non-fiction. Maybe OP hasn’t read it and didn’t know.
If there were any books that were like the Bible to me, I’d never want to read them again, and consider them the worst examples of fiction I’ve ever read.

Not the Holy Bible, the one by Kernighan & Ritchie.
In my line of work, the “Bible” is the Chicago Manual of Style. It is the deciding factor of what is “right” in editing.
You vastly overestimate my esteem for the Bible
I own two full copies of encyclopedia Britannica, 1897 and 1978
National Geographic Kids Almanac. Read them as a kid and I learned a lot from them.
Also the dictionary. I need to make sure I use my shiny new hard words the right way.
