Wrathful Advance’s teleport does not work reliably for going through lasers. Jupiter vaults fine, but Corpus ship lasers nope. This is just silly as he’s already not a great choice for spy missions.

Recompense’s self damage can KILL Kullervo, but it DOES NOT trigger Hunter Adrenaline. Why? Kullervo loves to not have to run Zenurik, making Hunter Adrenaline a reasonable choice for him. In fact I run it on him even with it not being self-triggerable.
In news of other odd design choices, I’ve found that this “I’m a dagger guy” warframe actually works best with… A sword and shield combo. Move forward with the block combo, parrying and triggering Adaptation while taking no damage. Just make sure everything behind you is already dead—which isn’t too tricky given Kullervo’s huge damage output.
My big annoyance atm is Kullervo’s signature weapon, Rauta, and the mandatory animation lock after every shot is fired - if you try to melee immediately after firing it gets queued after a ~1 second cocking animation, meaning that not only you can’t quickly combine firing and melee - you also get an usually unwanted delayed melee attack because it’s a second too late.
Otherwise it’s a pretty fun weapon to use with melee builds, it has nice damage and helps with building and maintaining of combo multiplier. I haven’t run into any energy issues with hunter adrenaline, having it proc off self blades would be nice but it’s not a deal breaker IMHO.
Pretty sure they hotfixed being able to kill yourself with Recompense.
Fair. I didn’t try taking health to 0, but saw recompense taking it quite low.
From the patch notes: https://forums.warframe.com/topic/1358812-the-seven-crimes-of-kullervo-hotfix-3354
Fixed Kullervo’s Recompense being able to put him in bleed-out if Ability Strength is high.
Other Warframes with a Health cost mechanic, such as Garuda and Inaros, prevent their self-damage from going beyond 2 Health. Kullervo’s Recompense now also has this preventative measure.
Being able to hurt yourself badly with HP burning powers is intended, dying outright is not.
Sure. But THE POINT is that Hunter Adrenaline doesn’t proc.
Probably be too easy to get more energy than you spent to cast it, so it isn’t allowed.
That’s the case with all abilities that can drain your health. Used to be the case with self damage too. Pretty much intended design.
