Absolutely not, there are few profitable esports, sponsor can enable some companies to turn a profit from SSBM, but with the hate relationship with Nintendo it’s a very minimal margin. Most profit will have to come from the fans, for example Ludwig giving a lot to the scene or the big number of fans willing to spend a chunk of their disposable income into merch, accessories and tourneys.

I wish more people would have moved over to Lemmy from Reddit :( I feel like a lot of “big” subreddits have done okay here, but any smaller more niche places don’t see much activity over here. I’m an active commenter but don’t really post too much top level stuff.
