Since Reddit admin have made it impossible to delete posts by hindering tools’ access to the API and by simply reinstating them from archives, has anyone tried simply batch editing them to something guaranteed to get banned? I’m currently using Redact.dev’s software to edit all existing comments and posts to something that will get my account banned from most subs. We’ll see if it works.

They’re my posts. I own the copyright. If I choose to edit them, Reddit doesn’t get to say how much I can change.

Besides, the point is to direct people here and to get the account banned since edits and deletions are being reverted by Reddit.

I could. I won’t. Where’s the fun in that? They deserve as much grief as I can stir up.

I never said they don’t own the server. They do. But by posting material on their own initiative, they’re also arguably waiving their Section 230 shield. I’d LOVE to see someone bring that back to bite them on the arse.

Good to know. Maybe including my Lemmy profile link in posts, comments, and profile will do the job. Adding “F---- Reddit” may not have been completely necessary, but it felt good. :D

Is Redact any good? I’ve been thinking about using it on my Twitter account but I was struggling to find info about how safe/good it is.

It worked for me for a couple days until Reddit reinstated my comments from archives which really pissed me off.

They did? I nuked my account yesterday. I guess I got lucky!

I spent a week manually deleting everything reddit showed me, until the comment / post list permanently displayed “this user hasn’t posted anything” and “there seems to be nothing here” for two days in a row. Then I used “shreddit” and it found and deleted a whooping 981 MORE comments that reddit somehow chose to not show me. My account is deleted now, but some of the comments are STILL visible (just no longer attributed to me and instead “posted by [deleted]”. I can even outright google them if I type my old username into the search bar.

There is definitely something fishy going on.

That part is because google’s crawlers cache everything on the internet. It’s going to take a while until this is refreshed.

Oh, ok. Good to know that at least some part of the issue is not directly reddits fault and might solve itself eventually. Still fishy that there are so many undeleted comments after manually deleting them and using a program that allegedly deletes eveything.
