Now we all patiently wait until the new lead developer puts a new TestFlight link out publicly.

Thank you David for getting Mlem off to a brilliant start, can’t wait to see where it goes from here on out!

Dev here. We’re working to get a new TestFlight link up ASAP, the main blocker is Apple’s review time since it technically counts as a “new app.” We’ll be putting out a statement to the community about all this later today.

Just received an update this morning with a message they said it will be active for 2 more days, then a new TestFlight link would be provided in the Community.

Yep the creator of Mlem stepped down, but if you refresh your TestFlight app you’ll see it’s already disappeared. The certificate that keeps the app on your phone will actually work for 90 days from now before it won’t open. But the new Lead Developer will hopefully have a new TestFlight invitation link in the next few days etc.

Does that mean we all need to delete the old app and get the new one when it drops?

Don’t delete it, you won’t be able to get it back for now. Once the team have published a new link for the TestFlight beta then install that and delete the old app from your device. The old version will let you use it for 90 days before it will stop functioning.

The beta app should work for the next three months. The developers will submit the app again to TestFlight. You can then join the new beta, or wait for the App Store version, whenever that happens. If you are happy with the beta you have, consider to let others join the new beta. For example, blind users might want to get the new beta because it will be the only Lemmy client that supports VoiceOver.

They try to submit the app to App Store 1st of July, and after that it will take from few days to weeks for it to be accepted to App Store.
