This has nothing to do with money. This is an attempt to silence outside voices in the US who can be critical of him. It’s to control the media.

What even is a tariff on a foreign movie? Licensing to show it doubles?
Taxes on the TCP packets when streaming companies get the rights and add it to their libraries.
Will the movies be held at the US internet border until the tariff is paid?

Does he sit on the crapper and just spitball the most asinine ideas into reality? How is he going to regulate them outside the US when most of the CGI/animation work and houses are done overseas?
He asks, “What is the most batshit thing I could do today to destabilize this country more and rile people up?”, then does shit like this about whatever triggers him that day (or whoever he’s told to target).
This idea comes from his official Hollywood advisors, mainly Jon Voight but also Sylvester Stallone and Mel Gibson.

Given past GOP rhetoric against Hollywood, this seems kind of weird. Double speak is their native tongue though and they’ll take any excuse I guess.

Trump first term and theatre industry almost collapse. Trump second term make sure it’s dead.
No amount of tariffs will make me interested in watching the stuff that American companies have been putting out since 2020. I’m not even looped into the movie industry enough to care which ones were foreign in the first place. Movies are entirely optional and I am totally fine just sitting them out entirely lol.
If anything, this will simply push movie theaters even further from my realm of interest all together.

More like they are killing themslves by providing nothing of interest and not willing to take risks. Like seriously how many fast and furiouses does the world need?
When they do take risks, no-one buys tickets.
