“Fun” fact: Emperor Frederick II (13th century) wanted to know what language babies would speak if they were never spoken to, hoping that they’d speak the language of Adam and Eve. To that end, he had babies kidnapped and then cared for by nurses, but forbidding the nurses to interact with the kids outside of caring for their physical needs. It did not end well.
