    Yeah, in my language they are also called the same name.

    Do you mean that they are not common in Germany or just in your specific region? I just opened the window and I can hear their call even now, there is always some of them around.

    Thanks for all the information, I had no idea that they came from Turkey. I’m looking forward to knowing more about these birds.

      They are common in Germany, but somehow not in the area I live. But we have a lot of wood pigeons here, I also love their cooing and courtship dance. From Turkey to Japan those “Eurasian collared dove” are common, but they started also migrate to Europe around 90 Years ago from Turkey. This means: around 100 Years ago there were no “Eurasian collared dove” in Germany or France! And more than 100 years ago pigeons were used in World War I. Quite underrated those birds!
