I’ve been exploring the fediverse and subbing and posting all over the damn place. Realizing lemmy can federate with kbin blew my mind. Not to mention the possibility of turning my old laptop into a personal server to host my own instance. Is this what it felt like to discover how the internet worked in the 90s?

In the '90s I was super excited whenever somebody hit my website. And somebody from far away country read my crappy personal website?!? Too much.

This … is not quite that. That feeling of interconnectedness has been with us now for too long to forget.

ah, I just remember the time I was the 1.000.000th visitor and got a price for it. Next day a nigerian prince mailed me for help.

I got that a couple months ago when I found out some folks in Ukraine really liked some of the songs I posted. Gave me some very Early Internet vibes. That kind of thrill is hard to come by.
