I can make DHExchange from DHExchange if needed, but if it won’t be necessary then I don’t wanna split things up needlessly, so figured I’d check here first.

As someone who used to be a moderator of DHExchange, I definitely don’t recommend it.

It will turn to a piracy community… which is something that should be avoided in term of maintenance burden.

That sub has always been a thorn in my side, most use it for piracy requests and that’s rather annoying.

My vote is strongly in the direction of keeping them separate:

    • Data hoarding tech, methods, and news are a discrete topic from content exchange, and much lower volume. I would certainly unsub if the former were swamped by the latter.
    • In spite of rules 1 and 3, that sub is very adjacent to copyright infringement. I’m always in favor of separating that kind of usage from the pure tech/process of storing mass data in order to limit the blast radius of any infringement enforcement fracas.
