Regardless of what happens in the auction, it will still take until the 19th for it to close. I understand changing the DNS will screw up a lot of federation features, but at this point it seems inevitable right?

From what I understand of the domain registrar it’s too late even if they were able to get into contact. Once it’s up for auction it’s essentially already sold, but it can be “sold” to the same owner if they win the auction.
