One of my mom’s go-to statements is “It’s just like living in a communist country!” any time something bad happens anywhere. Even when it’s capitalism or straight-up feudalism. “No, mom. They aren’t communist. They actually fought communists during such and such war,” is usually how the rest of the conversation goes.
