This dude needs a pope-mobile if he’s gonna keep saying stuff that’s gonna make the libs want to kill him. He still regularly holds outdoor rallies and does them with just a clear bullet proof screen in front of him when Ukraine already demonstrated the effectiveness of drones, eventually someone’s gonna realise they don’t need to use a gun and could just fly a suicide drone in from relative safety.

Pretty sure they’re supposed to have drone jammers at these events, then again they were spectacularly incompetent once already so who knows.

I wonder if it’s possible to set a “terminal course” for a drone, to make it an unjammable dumb drone? No further control, no active connection, just “ascend 100 meters, fly forward 300 meters, descend to ten feet and activate Special Function. Go.”

I don’t think this is true. Think about it - if you’re blocking connections for remote control you need to block EVERYTHING on that connection frequency.

If television broadcasters can get a connection to send their video signal then a means of connection exists. Or if the average person at the event can get an internet connection via their phone… A drone can get a connection through that method too.

Maybe they block a common set of radio frequencies used by radio controlled devices or something. But they aren’t blocking everything and can’t or they wouldn’t be able to run the event. A drone can be controlled from many different means, if an internet connection to your phone exists then it also exists for a drone equipped to be controlled in that way.

I would be astonished if there wasn’t jamming. But you’re right, they aren’t jamming everything, just specific frequencies likely

anecdotally, both wifi and 2.4GHz RC controllers have been blocked at a small time local parade event in my region.

I mean shit, a drone doesn’t need any remote control, if it can just get GPS that might be enough, and i doubt they’re jamming or spoofing gps. Though they could.

Wifi blocked during a parade? So no streaming? No ability to use chat apps etc while there?

Kind of interesting. I’ve never experienced wifi blocking at all, anywhere, including during parades and when I attended the London Olympics. I’m pretty sure I’ve experience cell towers being shut down temporarily a few times though, mainly during protests that got kettled.

Someone would need the exact location of the podeum that a target would be standing on and an explosive large enough for any margin of error for this to work. I don’t think it’s realistic. I do think this was used to disrupt a british airport once though.

I mean who’s on wifi at a parade? I guess a couple people might be connected to nearby businesses’ wifi, but most people on their phones will be on 4G and unaffected.

And yeah cell disruption either by jamming or stingray is seemingly common at protests.

Oh and the drone gun I linked below in the thread does targeted GPS/GNSS jamming too. But that needs to be spotted and aimed

I don’t know, IR? I think there’s direct line of sight connections too. There’s a lot of different ways. Some things are definitely not being blocked though or else all these other connections wouldn’t be a thing. Like really seriously think about it in the sense that the cops aren’t magical all seeing and all powerful. At the material level we can see for 100% certain that there are connections that aren’t being blocked.

We have this perception that they’re doing a lot more than they actually are. It’s part of the illusion of power.

The thing I’m imagining looks like a big radar gun that just kinda floods the appropriate channels in a beam (depends on drone), but it would still require someone to spot the drone and someone to aim the jammer (and calibrate it to 4G or wifi or whatever), so lots to go wrong in the time it takes for a drone to cross from unrestricted to restricted airspace. And if the drone has a directional antenna (less likely the smaller the drone, but for a purpose built assassin drone, could be) it would be a lot less effective.

But I’m still not sure if its a real thing. It does sound like something cops would buy should it exist tho
