At 4am, students at the University of Houston set up an encampment on Gaza Plaza (formerly “Butler Plaza”) to protest the millions of dollars their university invests in weapons manufacturers who directly aid the Israeli apartheid regime in their genocide of the Palestinian people. Despite the encampment posing no physical threat to anyone at the university, the police destroyed it and brutally charged towards protestors. Their own aggression manufactured chaos in which two peaceful students were arrested. The fight for their release continued at the Harris County Joint Processing Center. Despite the violent attacks on their encampment, the students remain undeterred and completely unshaken by the repression they faced today and have faced for 7 months. With each arrest, our movement grows stronger. We don’t rest until UH divests and until Palestine is free from the river to the sea!
