It’s missing the step “bitterly defend the increasing sunk-cost of dedicating your life to this system by violently rejecting any proposed alternatives.”

Or for some people in the US, for example, it’s more like:

Go to school (hopefully? I guess maybe probably); look for a job while going to school and/or amass absurd amounts of debt; get a degree that was advertised as useful but is probably not very useful; struggle to get and keep an okay job that is probably contracting work so they don’t have to pay for your health insurance; minimize doctor/dental visits and accumulate health issues at the prime of your life; spend most of your earnings toward rent and debt payments, or if you’re lucky to have parents who are doing okay and aren’t jerks, live with them so you can save better and work toward paying off debt faster; struggle with various mental health disorders and addictions you accumulate as a result of the persistent stress you face in this system; consume products and constantly think about better products coming down the pipe in a vain hope it will soothe the pain (it never does, because it has nothing to do with the unmet needs you have); work hectic schedules and possibly multiple jobs that make it confusing and complicated to take time off; be told this is all your fault 24/7 by propaganda funded by people living in white supremacist fortresses (metaphorically speaking? kind of); be told the human species is garbage 24/7 to justify things being like this; develop nihilism to cope and decide nothing matters, so you should just get the most of what you personally can out of life; be told directly or indirectly you’re a radical/terrorist/foreign-spy/childish if you think people should work together and uplift each other instead of bombing the entire (non-white) world and building cop cities; be jerked around by a spectacle of disagreement between two parties that equally despise you, while they do a combination of making things overall worse and mixing in minor placation to make it look like things are improving; watch as everything increasingly becomes a subscription and even in a society based on owning things, you aren’t supposed to own anything anymore and instead be on a mafia-like debt hook forever; be scolded as unrealistic/immature/idealistic for seriously dedicating your time to these concerns and told to get back to pulling yourself up by your bootstraps so you can become a self-actualized, self-made product consumer.
