For real though, I do think some “soul selling” has been metaphorically been performed by such techbro devotees. They really, really want to escape their worldly burdens, escape into some VR waifu paradise (or wake up from the “simulation” that this one supposedly is to them), and otherwise live forever without human limitations and think that selling out to their corporate overlords is the one shot they have at all of that.
