A friend of mine that lives in Cuba says that it’s a huge problem. While life there isn’t perfect, the constant bombardment of American idealization is projected at them. A big house, a big car, and a big plate. It’s frustrating him, because while it is understandable to want a fairy tale life, trying to explain to people that it’s not going to happen will only turn them away. People believe what they want to believe, and it’s our job to convince them.
