    Google throws money and prestige at any Big New Thing project, but if it’s not an immediate mega-hit like Gmail, they do not give a single fuck. Anyone performing upkeep is stuck in a dead-end position unless they make it a belated mega-hit.

    Unsurprisingly, this is a fucking stupid way to run a company that’s been around for a quarter-century. Plucky little startups get to gamble on longshots. Established giants ought to build their damn infrastructure and rake in revenue like normal.
