I do not take anyone’s opinions on eastern europe seriously irl unless they can name 4 soviet leaders. It’s an easy way to tell who’s opened up a history book and who hasn’t. Same for Chinese leaders, name three.
That’s why i specify 4 for the ussr, and three for china. It’s the assumption that they already know Lenin, Stalin, and Gorbachev, Mao, and Xi. If they can’t even name the obvious ones, then they clearly aren’t knowledgeable on the region, and won’t be able to understand historical context and reasoning.
