I haven’t watched some anime in a while now and would like to get into it again, i havent watched the final 2 seasons of AOT, but i would like some reccemendations for more recent anime.
SPY x FAMILY is a goodn.
and I’ve only just discovered Hell’s Paradise, I’m gonna give it a watch tonight. It looks sick.
Maybe check out Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, it’s fairly good with some amazing visuals and the second season will start airing a few days from now. Jujutsu Kaisen is also quite incredible, would highly recommend to watch. Other than that you might want to also give Great Pretender a chance.
Jobless Reincarnation is indeed a slightly better take on the really overdone Isekai genre.
I never got into the Great Pretender… saw the first episode but it just didn’t catch me. Seems like a series that takes a style over substance approach, apeing Cowboy Beebop a bit but without being actually good. But it might get better later on?
Well I didn’t much care for AOT, but it’s a thing. In the past couple years the ones we liked the most were Vinland Saga and Demon Slayer. They are not perfect, though I’d rate Vinland Saga slightly higher. Also, not Japanese, but we enjoyed Castlevania a lot.
Demon Slayer has amazing action art, but other than that it is a quite cringe worthy Seinen series. Still better than average I guess :)
Recent as in this year? I’d recommend 86, Vivy, and Odd Taxi. Wonder Egg is also pretty good but the plot kinda loses focus at the end. A good one from last year is ID: Invaded.
Reincarnated as a Slime is also fun if you like isekai trash, like myself.
Some good recent ones are:
- Dr. Stone
- Kaguya-sama (Love is War)
- Spy x Family
- Chainsaw Man
- Jujutsu Kaisen
- Megalo Box - A hidden gem tbh, especially season 2.
- Akudama Drive - Pretty interesting, and I’d say it’s worth a watch.
- 86 - It has 2 seasons, and I think 1 was better.
- Classroom of the Elite
- One Punch Man - You might have already watched it, but S2 came out more recently.
- Mushoku Tensei - Okay, but the MC sometimes crosses the border on perviness (actual degenerate behaviour). Kind of off-putting sometimes (and I almost quit it because of it), but the world building is great compared to other isekais.
- Deca Dence
- Re:Zero
- Demon Slayer
- Oshi no Ko - Haven’t watched it myself yet, but I heard it’s fked up and good.
- Mashle - A hilarious parody of Harry Potter.
- Overlord - Haven’t watched since S2, but I hear it’s good.
- Saiki Kusuo - Trust me, this one is worth it if you like Japanese humour.
Go watch “ya boy kongming”
I second this suggestion. It’s such a fun and refreshing anime, hope it gets a 2nd season.
Vinland Saga is incredible! Give it a shot of you haven’t already.
I dont really watch much anime and i also havent watched the end of AOT but I did enjoy watching dorohedoro, it was on netflix when I first watched it, other then that I just go back to watch the original season of FLCL from time to time
Wonder Egg Priority is pretty good, but the ending is sadly underwelming.
86 is an intersting take on the mecha anime genre with some fresh ideas.
