They way I’ve heard this explained is it isn’t going to keep you comfortable but it might help keep you from freezing to death in an emergency

Doesn’t matter. A candle puts out about 80 btu. 4 candles is about 320 btu.

For comparison, an average human puts out 350 btu by just existing.

So this will warm up a room about as much as having another person sit in there with you.

You also now have the added risk of having a bunch of open flames balanced on pots in your room.

Don’t do this, buy a space blanket for 5 dollars and keep it in in your nightstand if you’re that worried about freezing to death in your home.

So 3 people huddling for warmth instead of 2. That’s a better situation than before, and if you have a space blanket, even better. It’s still 3 people instead of 2, so better overall situation for everyone.

Sometimes it’s the last percent that means survival just so you are aware.

Until all 3 of you die because you accidentally started an uncontrolled fire while you’re already in an emergency.

2 people and 2 space blankets have just as good odds as surviving the cold than 2 people and some candles. Without needing to worry about fire.

A candle is going to heat up the area around it and dissipate that heat. The blanket will simply keep that 350 btu that you produce every hour much closer to your body, and stop you from freezing to death.

We just established that more heat is better and now you want to say making the fire larger is bad…?

Come on it’s a tea candle stomp it out with your foot of the flame falls over… wait it can’t fall over since it’s height is 1/3 it’s width…. You would literally have to throw it for it to fall over lmfao.

Since you seem to have issues understanding things like basics thermodynamics and physics, I’ll break it down in short sentences.

Candle make little heat that go away into air, take long time to raise temperature of room. Long time means candle likely left alone for long time.

Blanket keep your little heat close to body, keep you warmer than candle will.

Candle balanced on tower of pots and bricks. Candle not likely to fall, pots and bricks very likely to get bumped by idiot trying to use candle to heat entire room during emergency. Idiot might be asleep when they bump candle. Or idiot human might have idiot cat that want to play with shiny glowy candle. Now idiot die in fire cause big fire use all the air and make a lot of smoke.

Lmfao, I understand it’s fine, that’s why I know that heating up a pot with candles can be a useful source of heat. Your the moron since you’re arguing otherwise and your only argument is it’s “unsafe” you haven’t even used thermodynamics to make your point lmfao…. More heat is better than less I’m sorry your head is so far up your ass you can’t comprehend this.

You don’t need the bricks, and if you drop the pot on the candles it will snuff them… you say balanced on… I don’t think you understand the definition of that word. The candles are on a stable base. Knock the pot over and it snuffs the candles since it’s would cover them completely and is not flammable. Come one think Thai through just a little more and you would realize your scenario isn’t plausible here. Different candles and a flammable pot, yeah you have a little credibility to your point, but not much.

Why are both of you sleeping in an emergency…? One of you should be awake at all times to flag someone. You can’t ignore stuff you should already be doing because it makes your asinine scenario plausible lmfao.

Buddy is an alarmist, got called out, doubled down by arguing safety while claiming I need “understand basic thermodynamics”. The most basic thing that was up for discussion was survivability, and more heat gives you the best chance. It’s literally that simple.

Arguing anything else just shows you are illiterate because it’s about surviving, not it’s end feasibility.

Plus, having a large warm pot would allow multiple people to take advantage of the radiant heat, instead of one at a time hogging the flames and potentially burning themselves, because as buddy argued. People are stupid. So would they even know how to use a space blanket if people are stupid? See how stupid of an argument that can turn into being and why I didn’t bite?

                    But go off mate lmfao.

Blankets are highly underrated. Gloves are good too. Reusable, zero carbon emissions after you get them home other than the occasional wash. No carbon or unburned wax buildup on the walls or ceiling. Blankets don’t steal oxygen or create a cold draft by sucking up air from under the door. Sweaters are good too.

How irresponsible are you that starting an uncontrolled fire with a tea candle is a risk?
