linux-libre doesn’t load these blobs, so it’s the superior kernel in terms of freedom. But for demonic hardware in the wild, binary blob reduction works best.
Perhaps in the future the microcode problem will be solved by RISC-V and then the development of open firmware for cameras/wifi etc.
For example, remove the wifi blob for a computer that’s always wired but keep the microcode. Refuse to buy nvidia or use Nouveau drivers etc.
With a complementary install of GNU/Linux-libre of course to deny the encroachment of bourgeois blobs.

But firmware security is critical for revolutionary activities. Is the device in question open hardware?

I am aware of all that. That’s why I asked for “open hardware”. This means libre firmware.
