The Coffin of Andy and Leyley, let’s call it a “gem” of a game.

Critically aclaimed by… ugh… Gamers… Allah forgive me for uttering the word. By being one of the best rated games on steam.

However the game has conflicted many, many, people on how they should feel about it. And rightly so.

The game’s supposed to be a horror game, but rather than confront the game with scary monsters and/or environments, you are greeted with a crap-sack world and the main characters of our story; a pair of siblings stuck in an apartment together.

They are the monsters of this story btw :)

The story starts quite innocent enough, but as you play you delve into the pairs deeply toxic, manipulative and self-dependent relationship as they go on their little “misadventures”. Through flashbacks you also discover their (Andy’s) deeply traumatic and horrible past.

You go on doing a little murder, some cannibalism and even satanic rituals. (Scratching the surface here.) But when it comes to taboo, the developer doesn’t pull any punches.

Story spoiler and the taboo of the game. Including why the game got the notoriety it's got.

One of the available endings shows a vision of a future that the two will engage in incest. The game is yet to be finished, but Andy is groping Ashley’s butt before you even get the chance to choose the ending you want. 💀

That’s the part that got the game that is also most focused on during discussions. And one that shaped the fandom…

Oof. 💀💀💀💀💀💀

Finishing episode two I was left flabbergasted, disgusted, full of hatred for the two, but I also came back from the game weirdly… amused? This game also helped me reflect on myself and my own rather disgusting past, guess that’s what thinking about the worst possible things a person can do can make you think and reflect on youself. Even if you are not or were not as bad as the characters depicted.

I mean despite all of this shit, I’m invested in their little story and can’t wait for more. (Yes, yes. Treat brain.)

The writing is really fucking good, they do be actin’ like siblings ngl, and their toxic relationship is also reminiscing of a toxic relationship I myself have been in. Maybe that’s why the game clicked with me…

Soooo, if you’re not sensitive on the issues mentioned before hand. Go give the game a try or watch it on Youtube. You will be yearning for them to die :)

10/10, would recommend. Very interesting characters, somewhat because they’re fucked in the head.

STOP POSTING ABOUT INCEST GAME! I’M TIRED OF SEEING IT!

    stop-posting-amogus

Okay fr though, I can understand why people seemed apprehensive of it, given how the artwork/screenshots of the two animesque characters being cutesy and fun and the like made it seem that the creators weren’t handling the subject material appropriately. Which is fair, especially with how well this medium has handled “taboo” topics most of the time (looking at you, Hatred and CoJ: The Cartel).

But I’m glad to see this isn’t the case (I hope) and we’re potentially seeing another indie horror banger.

At this point I think whether it is futile to ask for a spoiler tag seeing how discussion about this game does center on that particular topic everywhere.

But yeah, the game has been enjoyable particularly because it pulled off the toxic codependent relationship so well.

Unfortunately though, the art style has brought it’s own issues… Especially when it comes to discussing the game with others. The characters where drawn very attractively, and the fandom went wild.

Jesus, if Ashley looked like Meg from Family Guy the fandom would’ve been miles different. But sexual attraction is yet again isolating enjoyment of something for myself, because weirdos are already out there.

The worst are the types willingly adopting the characters for pfps and stuff like that. I see them no different from those who idolize Patrick Bateman or Walter White. But I have to hand it to the developer, the moments of the siblings bonding are cute and do create sympathy. But then you realize, that Jesus Christ, they are eating human meat. 10/10

I giggled all the way through both EA episodes. It’s just… Lovely? Not sure it’s the right kind of word for this, but I certainly loved it. But I’m an unrepentant gorehound, so your measure may wary.

The titular duo are complete monsters, but they can be cute and endearing at the same time. They’re just really well written. In a way, the game reminded me of “Devil’s Rejects” by Rob Zombie: the central characters are vile, unrepentant scum, but the camera bias and their good characterization makes them kinda sympathetic. They’re still scum though, and the movie doesn’t pretend otherwise. The game is similar, except when “Devil’s Rejects” is extremely brutal in its approach to violence, this game is quite cartoonish… For the most part, anyways.

As usual, the worst part of this is gonna be the fanbase. I’ve already seen nazi shit involving the characters.

So its not “really” a horror game in the classical sense ? How long does a playthrough take ? I heard there are multiple endings.

An episode should take like two hours, more if you do branches and yes the second episode does have multiple endings which will probably have big impacts in the next episodes.

The horror of the game are the characters and their interactions in it, for me the scary part was how they were so nonchalant about the things they were doing and to what lengths they would go to.

For example in episode one, the only thing that tries to stop Andy from doing cannibalism is his thinking: “We’ll get caught.”

Which basically shows you also his side lacking serious morals

But Ashley is the big, big monster here. Total psychopath and sociopath.

    spoiler, chapter 2, need help

I’m stuck here. I have everything she mentions, but she still just says this. I’ve tried interacting with just about everything and going everywhere the game lets me but nothing. I thought maybe I needed more rocks or something but I can’t find anything.
