Probably last people i have negative feelings about (although with austerities from all sides it could be soul crashing when you can’t help).

Many of my family and my friends have done social work, it’s in turns honorable work to care for others, and a constant struggle against being the person who has to say “I can’t help you”. I work “nonprofit” healthcare and it’s much similar. Drives me to drink at times, but I can go to bed each night knowing I didn’t make the world worse and with decent pay.
in the us, most lower level social work jobs whether govt or NGO, pay is very low. like $18/hr for entry level case workers, last i checked
