Went through a divorce almost 6 years ago. My ex has an undiagnosed mental illness and my marriage was really bad so for me it was kind of a weight off my shoulders. It was still hard but it gets better. Find someone you can talk to about it, even if it’s just a therapist, and take lots of time for self care. I did a lot of fishing, hiking, and golfing for a couple years. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed doing that stuff.

Hey, this is me right now, though my wife found him before she left… I kinda felt from the beginning that she wouldn’t be able to spend the rest of her life with a woman, probably should have paid more attention to that feeling.

I went through it twice, including the severe depression and periods of utter hopelessness. All I can say is, eventually the darkness lifts. Endure.

Been there but it was 1 week later. 4 years of severe depression (and still going) and I haven’t lost yet so I got that going for me.

Now hear me out: Get yourself a dakimakura. With depression you will spend more time in bed than you like anyways and this way you alteast got something nice and plush to cuddle with in bed. It sounds bad but it feels good, believe me. If you feel like seeing people again but are embaressed you can always hide it in the closet. Or go with a neutral cover and say it helps sleeping on the side.

I just hug the other pillow in my bed.

You know… The one my ex used to use.

(it’s been 5 months for me, I’ve long stopped associating the pillow to my ex, it really does just help me sleep)

What’s your favorite vinyl? Mine is the pre-broadway print of Hadestown. I got it for my wife as an anniversary gift and I wonder how much it may be worth.

    Edit, it became cheaper😂

I’ve just started listening to Hadestown and I’m only in the opening track, and I already love you for making me aware of it! I’m pretty sure I’m gonna be over my depression (one day) LOL

Edit: I wish I could upvote you twice!

Joking about it means you at least acknowledge it which means something for depression. And yeah it’s a really fun album and you can probably tell how the show ended up winning a ton of Tony’s. I still need to see the live performance.

    Important Breakup Advice:

Make a list of everything you hated about being with them, focus on the bad feelings their behavior gave you.

When you get sad about not being with them refer to the list. It works surprisingly well.
