I think the problem is that where they wanted op to write MM/DD/YYYY, op wrote a bunch of numbers instead.
ISO 8601 exists for a reason…

Are you using a browser in a locale with a different date format? They might be using the default browser date parsing under the hood.
It’s probably this. That would be a fun oversight, though.
