I am soon participating in a local seminar discussing whether China is a socialist country or a newly emerging imperialist power. I expect Neo-trotskyist presence to be extremely strong. Their main argument is (predicted to be) as follows:

  1. Chinese revolution is not a proletarian revolution, but a national liberation movement led by the non-comprador, national bourgeoisie (Their evidence is that Mao emphasized the Chinese people and his theory of the people’s state outlined in “On the People’s Democracy” contains ideas of bourgeois nationalism)
  2. Citing Isabella Weber’s “How China avoided Shock Therapy”, that China supposedly appropriated surplus value from the country-side, exploiting the peasantry and thereby supporting state capitalism under Mao’s rule
  3. China is not a socialist country, but a state capitalist one (Whatever that means)
  4. Repression of sexual/ethnic minorities (the “Uyghur Genocide”…)
  5. Export oriented strategy underscores China’s subservience to the global neocolonial system (Its participation in UN peacekeeping campaigns are attempts at extending its military arm to enforce value transfer into China (!)
  6. China’s Belt and Road initiative as an expression of its desire to export finance capital abroad
  7. Exploitation of the domestic working class

To be clear, they already understand that US and western imperialism is the leading force of imperialism in the world today. They support the DPRK (whilst denouncing it as a state capitalist country) against US aggression.

Their theoretical line is somewhat similar to the Socialist Worker’s Party in the UK: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialist_Workers_Party_(UK)

https://socialistworker.co.uk/art/52023/Chinas+champions+of+state+capitalism

https://socialistworker.co.uk/art/49999/Imperialist+rivalries+heighten+the+crisis

Please help me out here. They are very sectarian and will bite at anyone who dares to deviate even slightly from their theoretical line. The dominance of their theoretical line will be detrimental for the local movement here. Please provide me with some evidence against their claims. Concrete data (e.g. – calculation of value transfer from Africa to China etc) is always welcome.

    Comment 2/3

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkmkcOdyrbw

This video holds even less water than the aforementioned drone footage, as the men in the video are featureless. They weren’t even shown to be Uyghurs. So what is video then? This is a video captured in August 2017 on Douban. The blindfolded men are pyramid scheme (MLM) missionaries, literal criminals that scams people of their hard-earned cash and literally destroy lifes and families. They are victimized to suit the agenda of whomever uses this as “evidence” of

Another unpleasant surprise coming from this Fundementalist Christian on his “God given mission to destroy Beijing.” Zenz, continuing his demonstration of reality warping magic-based power, recently published another study unearthing the shocking news that “80% of all sterilizations in China are performed in Xinjiang.” This is what everyone thinks they have heard.

The actual study is actually on the usage of IUDs, a reversible contraception device.

The actual study? It falls apart very easily. The very document that Zenz supposedly has cited shows that Xinjiang only contributes 8.7% of the total IUDs performed in China.

    Testimonies by “Former Detainees”:

First of all, it is important to understand the fact that testimonies are anecdotal evidence, heavily subjected to perception bias. Society today suffers from false victimhood because people are very likely to believe the perceived victim and disregard anything coming from the defendant. In the case of testimonies’ falsehood, the defendant is the one that suffers the most.

    Tursunay Ziyawudun:

Tursunay Ziyawundun is the person that started the Forced Sterilization/Chemical Castration Allegation, which is very rampant on today’s internet.

    https://apnews.com/269b3de1af34e17c1941a514f78d764c

The Problem? She stated in her interview with Buzzfeed months ago that she “wasn’t beaten or abused”:

    https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/meghara/china-uighur-xinjiang-kazakhstan

Why did she change her testimony? A simple explanation would be that had she claimed to have been physically abused, she would have been asked to show bodily evidence, something that would immediately debunk her claim. Now 7 months later, she could claim whatever she wants to, and can simply disregard any request to show bodily evidence.

    Rushan Abbas:

Then there is the bizarre case of Rushan Abbas. She actually has a presence on Reddit. She runs an account called u/uyghurrallynyc that has since been shut down after her AMA on r/IAmA gathering over 30k upvotes.

    /r/IAmA/comments/e9ad4n/i_am_rushan_abbas_uyghur_activist_and_survivor_of/

She claims to be an Uyghur activist and that many of her friends were locked up in the concentration camps. So what is the big news? She failed to mention her association with NED, a literal branch of CIA, and her participation in the human rights abuse in Guantanamo Bay in 2003, an actual verifiable human rights atrocity.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guantanamo_Bay_detention_camp

It remains unclear what her role was at the detention camp. She later explained that she only did translation work, which, need I remind you, still facilitated the inhumane interrogation of innocent people and the worst-case scenario actually participated in the torturing of mostly religious Muslims. The camp remains open indefinitely under the Trump administration.

    Sayragul Sauytbay:

This person is on a whole new level of creativity and disgeniuncy. Her allegations took inspirations from grimdark fantasy fictions, including:

“Seeing an old woman having her skin flayed.”

“Starved throughout an entire week but being force fed BBQ pork on Fridays.“

“Personally raped in front of 200 inmates.”

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7599941/Whistleblower-escaped-Chinese-education-camp-reveals-horrors.html

This all sounds horrible until you look at her original testimony, being that “I didn’t see any violence.”

    https://www.theglobeandmail.com/world/article-everyone-was-silent-endlessly-mute-former-chinese-re-education/

Seems like the CIA cheques have arrived.

China Refuses Entry to These “Concentration Camps”? False.

Many galaxy brain internet conspiracists have made the same point, that is if there is truly nothing wrong with what they are doing at these camps, then why wouldn’t they allow entry to these camps?

    They have, many times.

January 2019: China invited UN observers.

    https://www.dawn.com/news/1456065

June 2019: China invited UN High commissioner.

    https://www.telesurenglish.net/news/China-Invites-UN-to-Visit-Education-Centers-in-Xinjiang-20190613-0004.html

Many News Outlets like BBC and Vice have also done documentaries on the issue, with BBC having the opportunity to actually go inside the vocational training schools. The result? No matter how hard BBC tried to portray the schools as hell on earth, including blatantly mistranslating interviewee’s words, using out of context satellite images, and making up lies about a “graffiti that they just so happened to have found on a wall,” the documentary shows nothing of the accused “human right violations,” which of course upsets the conspiracy advocates.

    https://medium.com/@sunfeiyang/breaking-down-the-bbcs-visit-to-hotan-xinjiang-e284934a7aab

Despite China’s efforts to clear it’s own name, the conspiracists of the west still refuse to accept reality and claim that these “inside footages” are planned and faked to trick the viewers. Simply take a look at the comment section of the BBC documentary.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmId2ZP3h0c

It is hard to believe that there is somehow a coexistence between people who think that China has something to hide so they won’t allow inside access, and people who think that China has faked the inside access.

The truth has always been there, but it may not be the truth that some people want to see.

A UN Resolution of global south nations:https://undocs.org/pdf?symbol=en/A/HRC/41/G/17

We express our firm opposition to relevant countries’ practice of politicizing human rights issues, by naming and shaming, and publicly exerting pressures on other countries. We commend China’s remarkable achievements in the field of human rights by adhering to the people-centered development philosophy and protecting and promoting human rights through development. We also appreciate China’s contributions to the international human rights cause.

    World Bank Investigation of Xinjiang:https://www.worldbank.org/en/news/statement/2019/11/11/world-bank-statement-on-review-of-project-in-xinjiang-china

When allegations are made, the World Bank takes them seriously and reviews them thoroughly. In line with standard practice, immediately after receiving a series of serious allegations in August 2019 in connection with the Xinjiang Technical and Vocational Education and Training Project, the Bank launched a fact-finding review, and World Bank senior managers traveled to Xinjiang to gather information directly…

The team conducted a thorough review of project documents, engaged in discussions with project staff, and visited schools directly financed by the project, as well as their partner schools that were the subject of allegations. The review did not substantiate the allegations.

Organization of Islamic Cooperation praises Chinese handling of Xinjiang:https://www.oic-oci.org/docdown/?docID=4447&refID=1250

Welcomes the outcomes of the visit conducted by the General Secretariat’s delegation upon invitation from the People’s Republic of China; commends the efforts of the People’s Republic of China in providing care to its Muslim citizens; and looks forward to further cooperation between the OIC and the People’s Republic of China.

Egyptian media delegates visit Xinjiang: https://www.thenews.com.pk/latest/430738-egyptian-media-delegates-provide-a-detailed-insight-of-the-situation-in-xinjiang

The recently published report also brings forth some interesting facts related to the religious freedom as opposed to the western propaganda. The report provides a strong testimonial by the visiting delegates who clearly state, “the in houses of worship such as the Id Kah Mosque in Kashgar, modern facilities abound, providing water, electricity and air conditioning. Local clerics told the visitors that their religious activities had been very well protected”. “The conditions here are very good,” said Abdelhalim Elwerdany, of Egypt’s Al-Gomhuria newspaper. “I could feel that local Muslims fully enjoy religious freedom.”

      Guantanamo_Bay_detention_camp

The Guantanamo Bay detention camp (Spanish: Centro de detención de Guantánamo) is a United States military prison located within Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, also referred to as Guantánamo, GTMO, and “Gitmo” (), on the coast of Guantánamo Bay in Cuba. By January 2021, 731 of the 780 people detained had been transferred elsewhere, 40 remain there and 9 had died while in custody. The camp was established by US President George W. Bush’s administration in 2002 during the War on Terror following the September 11, 2001 attacks.

The graffiti thing seems egregious - it should be easy to clip identifying material from the shot to protect whoever wrote it.

I was in my teens during the Bush years. he general climate seemed to be one of almost parodic confusion; no one around me really believed the WMD claims or especially the Al Qaeda connection, and no one really believed anything the Bush administration or the US military was saying about the war. The Xinjiang atrocity blitz, as Roderic Day called it, has the same pungent air of bullshit about it.
