Citing that the Chinese government has an approval rating of 90+% among Chinese people often gets countered by the argument “Why don’t you ask the Uyghurs/Tibetans/Hong Kongers what they think of the Chinese government”

Are there any statistics on approval among these people and how do you handle such an argument?

Ahhh the famous example that the Tibetans botched up because they had to use old Qing texts. (You know, because it wasn’t that common.)

What are you even talking about dude?

I’m laughing at the notion of the Ganden Phodrang modernizing/liberalizing and at the notion that mutilation wasn’t a common practice.

What do Qing texts have to do with Lungshar?

Laugh all you want…the fact is, they were. Even the current Dalai Lama supported reforms. By the time China invaded, mutilation wasn’t common…

The Tibetans had to use Qing texts for Lingshar’s eye gouging…as they didn’t know how to do it.
