ok, I could look this up, but I’m asking you instead. Why is Israel’s behaviour over the last 10 years in Gaza more justified than Russia’s?

Because Ukraine isn’t run by a government composed of people dedicated to eliminating Russia as a nation? Because Ukraine doesn’t attack Russian civilians? Because Ukraine isn’t a terrorist organization bent on literal genocide? Because Israel hasn’t occupied any portion of Gazan territory since 2005?

FAFO is what’s going on here for the Gazans. They fucked around, now they’re finding out. I have many criticisms of Israeli policy, but Hamas are uncivilized barbarians, murderous thugs it’s impossible to negotiate with.

What sources do you make your claims based on? Even in some US and European ones, including the most mainstream, there’ll be evidence to precisely the opposite. Not always, here and there. Let alone in the russian ones.

The differences in support between Ukraine and Palestine really demonstrates how geopolitical actors act purely in self interest. They may talk about oppressed peoples and freedom and autonomy and all that, but when it comes to choosing sides it’s always about self interest.

Yes, yes, let’s all have sympathy for the genocidal terrorists in Gaza! If we only let all of them into Israel and allow them to murder or ethnically cleanse every single Jew in Israel and Palestine, there’ll be peace.

Aljazeera is not a legitimate source, specifically regarding this conflict and the Israeli Palestinian problem. If you intentionally are choosing this source aware of that you’re being intellectually disingenuous.

What makes them illegitimate? That they express a viewpoint that is opposed to the American-Israeli one?

They are state owned by Qatar and have an agenda that clearly and demonstrably biases their coverage. It exists explicitly to further the interest of Qatar.

If you’re unclear why that makes it an illegitimate news source on the Israeli Palestian conflict, then I’m not sure how to help you.

The same could be said for any source. No news agency is truly independent. Every news agency is beholden to the government where it operates, its owners if it is privately owned, its advertisers if it advertises, and its subscribers if it has paid subscriptions. I’m not gonna try and argue that the Qatari government is better than any other entity to be beholden to, but there’s nothing unusually wrong about their perspective or bias either. On Middle East matters, I think it’s especially important to have a Middle East voice expressing their viewpoint.

Europe and US like to accuse others of everything. But they, strangely, don’t like to be accused themselves in anything
