President Biden has long believed that college should be a ticket to the middle class, not a burden that weighs on families. That’s why from day one, his Administration has taken unprecedented steps to fix the broken student loan system, make college more affordable, and bring the promise of higher education in reach for more…
Nah, most of these have been, “whoopsie, a couple thousand boomers and X-ers were supposed to get IDR-ed out but we “accidentally” “forgot” to do that” fixes.
They’re acting like they’re giving forgiveness but they’re actually just counting off the amount of automatic forgiveness for people who have been eligible for forgiveness for a long time. Some of the old servicers that quit the game were not actually granting PSLF or IDR forgiveness and just stealing money from people. The new servicers are basically just not being allowed to do that, and it wouldn’t have mattered who the president was, all that happened was contracts expired in 2021 and 2022, and new loan servicers have always been required to inspect and report the status of their loans. They’re reporting long-forgiven loans as forgiven, and Biden is taking credit for that.
Of fucking course
