Metric after metric, measure after measure are being taken from us. They’re taking away the forms of tracking it and they’re taking away the protections. Why? Don’t they care about the people? Don’t they care about the millions who’ve gotten sick, the millions who’ve been disabled, the millions who’ve died? The cdc cares about keeping the economy running, no matter how high the stack of corpses gets in the corner. They want people working and creating profit for their capitalist masters. When people get sick the “health”“care” system will strip them of any remaining money and leave them to die.

EPA for greenwashing; FDA for rubber-stamping preservative filled slop that’s not safe for consumption; CDC for downplaying a deadly, years-long pandemic so that businesses can stay open.
Yes. They also exist so that when people say “Shouldn’t we do anything about these pressing problems that are affecting society?”, the propaganda machine can say “Yes, we have a department that takes care of that. And you should listen to them because they’re the ‘authorities’. If you don’t like how they run you’re welcome to try to change them in the rigged political system.” They exist to present the illusion that the problems are being taken care of, so people don’t solve the actual problems.
I think most people here just use the People’s CDC since the CDC isn’t doing shit.
The CDC openly admits to issuing guidance based on what it thinks people will do, i.e. rather than what public health expertise say needs to be advocated.
This is just a whitewashed phrasing of what you’re describing. What “people will do” is a political calculation (the math is never shown, though) that allows bourgeois party influence and capitalist propaganda to dictate health policy.
