A highschool first date involved my female date wanting to pick a movie directed by a woman. I thought “why not?” So we spent a half hour checking VHS box covers. (Yes this was that long ago.) I found one and said that it looked pretty interesting.

That date got pretty tense pretty fast.
This is why I always go with Bill Hader’s pick for a first date movie:
Aww, that romantic scamp.
It’s a really good movie, but yeah… absolutely terrible for a first date. Near Dark would have been better.
The funny thing is this event once earned me a second date. On another first date years later, we were talking about disastrous first dates. Turns out Strange Days was one of her favourite movies. She was a big fan of transgressive sci-fi.
My programming brain assumes that letterboxd is a daemon, relating to letterboxes I suppose?
