Hear me out, Bixby button was used to launch Samsung’s personal assistant Bixby. This button is used to launch Siri. Then the button was mended to add further capabilities of launching other apps or phone functions.

No more mute switch no. Now it’s a button that you can program to do pretty much anything.
The default is still toggle silent mode though like the switch.
Damn. Only reason I care is because of how satisfying that switch is
Yeah I will miss it.
When mine gets here I’ll have to play around with it but from what I’ve seen you can only program it to do one thing at a time, which is a bummer.
It would be nice if they went with like a single tap to toggle mute, and a long press to do your programmed action.
Well that’s disappointing. So not only do you lose a useful switch, you completely lose mute functionality if you use the button for something else?
Only way to be sure is when the phone is actually released but from what I understood from the keynote. Long hold is mute button and pressing the button is programmable.
They’ll just put the mute function in the control center if you’re using the button for something else.
The hardware switch is definitely better than having a software mute in the control center. At least in my opinion.
For some. To be completely honest I never use it, I have focus set up for various locations to control stuff like that, I just block most calls when I’m At work for example. I’m sure they’ll add mute as a focus setting.
