    Scientists are scouring garbage sites around the world for bacteria, fungi and even insects that harbor enzymes that could be harnessed for breaking down various polymers. It’s early days, but if the efforts can be efficiently scaled-up, such biological recycling could put a dent in the plastic waste problem.

      And coming up at 11, we’ll give you a first hand look at the plastic eating amoeba that’s taken over Manhattan! It’s swallowing all playground equipment, children’s toys, and cheap backyard furniture in it’s path. Civilians are being advised to stay away lest the amoeba begins dissolving the microplastics in the human blood stream
