I joined reddit on the tailwind, so it was all echo chamber, we hate newcomers, gatekeeping, automod frenzy, too many rulebreakers, too many rules, etc I could be wrong, but thats what I imagine it used to be like.

    This is what feels the most different between Reddit and Lemmy. On Lemmy downvote means disagree, period. They never even tried to make it mean something else.

    I only comment if my perspective is different to other people in the discussion, so my comments usually end up at like -10. It really discourages debate imho. I got rid of my old accounts and just use this one where I politely agree with people.
