Perseverance Mars rover spies big sunspot rotating toward Earth (photos)::NASA’s Perseverance Mars rover has captured photos of a big sunspot, which should rotate into view for those of us on Earth in the coming days.
Fuckin incredible we can get advance notice of stuff that will affect those of us on Earth… because of a rover on another planet
This won’t affect us on earth. We will just be able to see it.
Geez, sun, put some pants on! 🙈
🌞: Well don’t spie! Haven’t you learned to never stare at me directly!
The technological part of this is very cool. But after the last few years I can’t help but think, “I wonder how much damage the inevitable solar flare is going to do?”
Depending on the severity it could really be a societal roll of the dice. Could be for the better or for the worse but either way it would cause a decent amount of suffering in the short term.
It’s going to be an interesting few days if it’s going to hit Earth…
Edit: I said “if”, not “when”
Rotate into view ≠ Effecting earth
Emphasis on “if”
“If” the sunspot hits Earth. Got it.
