Hate crime…. Ya think? Does this really take the FBI?
In the south? Yeah, it’s necessary for the FBI to be involved. Just 10 days ago some shitbags who attempted to murder a black fed ex driver got a mistrial due to gross negligence by the local police. This was mississippi. Source: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/mistrial-white-father-son-charged-attempted-shooting-black-fedex-driver-mississippi-dmonterrio-gibson/
When local police are “accidentally” making mistakes that make it difficult/impossible to prosecute crimes against people who happen to be the wrong color then yeah, it really does take the FBI to get the job done.
This makes a lot of sense. Thank you for the update.
Would you prefer Jacksonville PD handle it?
What needs to be handled. It’s a hate crime. Period. It need not be investigated to reach that conclusion.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t trust local PD anywhere to investigate crimes that police keep getting rewarded with paid vacation for committing themselves.
I don’t really trust the FBI to do it either, but I distrust them less than local cops.
Fair enough.
There are federal hate crime laws, so the FBI has opened an investigation. If this was “just” murder, it likely wouldn’t be a federal crime and only investigated by local and state agencies.
Another “alpha male” chud who lived with his parents in the basement. The parents should be charged in his place.
Accessories, at least.
As much as I see the issue as more of ignorance, no one raises a kid to be a murderer. Assholes and bigots? All over the place. But an actual cold hearted murderer? No parent sets out for that.
I think claiming “no parent” is optimistic since plenty of parents are happy to beat their children unconscious or rent them out to pedophiles.
But even glossing over that, those “bigots and assholes” definitely create fertile soil for a murderer to bloom. It’s not like being raised amid guns, domestic violence and extreme racism is going to make someone less likely to go on a killing spree.
I guess the perspective I am coming from is a parent. Most I talk to are trying to be good parents. Then again I am not associated with people like you are describing in the first paragraph.
Hate is learned and nurtured in a hate filled home. It can absolutely be raised into a child.
Well yes. Hate is different than acting on hate. I’m not excising anyone. But assuming the parents should be held liable absolutely, seems harsh.
oh so swastikas are a hate symbol now
