When a peaceful colony on the edge of a galaxy finds itself threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruling force, Kora (Sofia Boutella), a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival.
Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Mother World, Kora assembles a small band of warriors — outsiders, insurgents, peasants and orphans of war from different worlds who share a common need for redemption and revenge.
As the shadow of an entire Realm bears down on the unlikeliest of moons, a battle over the fate of a galaxy is waged, and in the process, a new army of heroes is formed.
I’ve never heard of this movie until today. The trailer looked interesting enough to check out. I like the aesthetics at least. I suspect this will be mostly an action movie, but if the technology and cinematography is cool enough to look at then I’m interested.
That looks generic as fuck. Seems like the Krypton scenes from Man of Steel (i.e. the most generic alien world ever) stretched out to a whole movie… Or two movies? And all with the usual Snyderism. I don’t wanna be negative, but I think I’ll pass unless I need something to fall asleep to.
I’m sure it will be like most of the movie industry these days that only know how to make super hero movies. It will have no depth, the dialogue will be shallow and the action will be 85% of the movie. But as awful as it will potentially be I am still a sucker for space battles and the like. I could probably watch a 2 hour film of just spaceships shooting eachother.
a 2 hour film of just spaceships shooting each other
As long as it’s not J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek I’m okay with this.
You know you need to lay off the lense flares when the audience starts confusing them with phasers. It’s pew pew not bling bling
I could definitely watch 2 hours of spaceships shooting at each other as well, but 1) I’d rather just play it, 2) they need to hold off the false hero drama and screen filters
I had the same feeling and have been burnt by a lot of Netflix movies recently. I’ll hold out for some reviews.
I think you’re right. It certainly seems pretty, but it still looks like every other generic 'motley group of ridiculously attractive misfits save ____" that Netflix and its ilk churn out.
Looks like dogshit
They’re calling it Snyder’s Star Wars, but I’m getting more Battlefield Earth vibes.
I’ve seen the classic B-movie “Battle Beyond the Stars” mentioned as comparison to the plot. But that’s okay, as “bad” as that movie was, it was still a fun ride and I hope this one does okay.
It’s the Seven Samurai again (again) with a bit of How To Train Your Dragon.
