I currently work from home 100%, as my team’s office is a 4.5 hour drive away. This has worked for the last year but I’m now thinking of trying to do a 1-2 days a week in a paid office space.

I sent out about 7-8 enquiries, and to my surprise only two got back to me. I visited one for a viewing, and am scheduled to view the second tomorrow but tbh I think it will be very expensive so unlikely to be suitable.

I’m pretty introverted so I’m not crazy about working next to strangers in a hotdesking space, but as it’s the cheapest option I’ll see how it goes. I’d prefer a private room with a closed door but the prices are hilariously high at £300-500+ per month. I guess there’s a market at those prices.

I found an office at a good location a 45-minute cycle away, which is great. It has a locked cycle shed, stocked kitchen, shower, and good internet, for £95/month for 8 days/month. This seems like a reasonable price, although it’d be about 5% of my income, but I think I’d be happy there, although the actual coworking space itself is small with only 5 desks.

What annoys me is that it’s very difficult to find prices for these places. They all want you to get in contact and speak personally. I wish I could just see “this place has X facilities for £Y per month and here are pictures”, like rightmove or something.

Does anyone here use places like this? Anything to look out for, or good/bad experiences? Specifically, is there a better way to find pricing other than calling each company individually?
