I update this page as and when something new of interest crosses my path so there are usually bi-weekly or monthly updates.

I actually find the current state of xmpp apps kinda sad, at least on windows. You have bad feature support pidgin, Miranda, and (non OSS) trillian, creepy psi+, and “we now look like discord” gajim (yeah, really not a fan of last year’s layout change). I guess dino also belongs in the last group. The only app if like to use is astra or whatever it’s called, but it’s a closed source app that targets Enterprise and it’s not even buyable for private people.
Sorry, that turned into a bit of a rant. My favorite protocol always gets me ranting ;)
XMPP is actually a great protocol that has expanded over time with lost of additional functionality, including secure networking. It has both channels and blog subscriptions (not supported by all clients). The only other protocol I know of that has extendible features like this is Nostr. Both really put ActivityPub to shame apart from the federation aspect. Actually wondering if XMPP has a Lemmy/Reddit type link aggregation with voting.
