Looking at the ties of the organizers, I’m kind of surprised that so many people are uncritically sharing the ‘freedom convoy’ content.

The far-right has taken COVID denialism and virus rights advocacy as its own calling card. Similar people here in Finland have noticed this event and appear to be currently planning a similar convoy. I even stumbled into a Telegram group and channel where they are organizing and sharing their ideas. In addition to COVID restrictions and mandates, they are also protesting rising fuel prices.

You are describing corporate behaviour that is incentivized for shareholder value, and goes largely unpunished by weak sauce neoliberal “small government” jurisdictions the world over.

I would rather wait for another vaccine that seems more legit from a trustworthy organisation

Canada has 4 approved vaccines with a few more under consideration or in clinical trials. Which one would you consider?

All 4 are based on the same RNA technology and were pushed through without doing the testing any other vaccine would require due to the emergency at hand. Astazeneca and Johnson&Johnson use viruses as vectors to inject the RNA, and Moderna and Pfizer use lipids to inject the RNA.

My buddy is waiting specifically for the Novovax vaccine based on a kind of “protein subunit” technology that has been used for decades in other routine vaccinations, and it’s going through much more rigorous standard testing. I don’t know if he’s right or not, but it seems like reasonable logic.

      I’m not anti-vaccine …

The first six syllables out of the mouths of literally every anti-vaxxer I’ve ever met when the subject comes up.

I’m surprised that labour organizing to oppose big pharma is something so many people feel the need to uncritically fight against.

    Yet here we are.

They should demand fair wages, benefits, reasonable working hours and conditions since they did drive all that way after all.

They’re demonstrating to the government against things the government is doing.

I’m pretty pissed off as a worker about the condition of needing to present my papers like it’s Nazi Germany, and that’s entirely der Fuhrer Justin Trudeau’s edict. He can’t dictate much of that other stuff, but he did that. Incidentally, that resulted in a lot of natives losing their jobs because some justifiably aren’t that trusting of the federal government forcing them under threat to endure some medical procedure. Trudeau is good at firing natives who don’t do what he says.

And reality check for a minute: The prices of basic necessities are going up every year by a hell of a lot, and it’s because of his government’s irresponsible policies. You want fair wages? Well even if you get them, if this buffoon gets his way it’ll only be for a year or two because you’re not going to get a 10% raise every year forever. On the upside for the folks actually paying him and his family under the table, the stock market will happily continue to rise thanks to the same policies.

The dummy doubles the national debt right before interest rates start to reset (Taxes will rise and services will collapse), and there’s still native reserves without clean drinking water. That’s embarrassing. Worth marching on Ottawa over.
