Please note this is just a beta and there are going to be bugs, but it works and it works nicely. Have fun.

    Great news.

However, I’ve become partial to having separate accounts across various instances. Sync enforces having separate settings for each account. I can see this becoming pretty annoying. Does anyone else feel this way?

Ideally we could create a “master” setting set and then allocate certain accounts to have their own settings. I’d even be happy with just an option to keep all accounts in sync.

Maybe even multiple template settings? One recommended default and the option to create your own to reuse when adding accounts on other servers.

You can backup and restore it on each account. Actually you can even backup from reddit sync app and restore that on the lemmy sync accounts which is what I did and have all my lemmy accounts set up like I had my old reddit sync.

That’s definitely a good workaround for now, and is great for the initial setup when adding new account. I’m also especially thankful that restoring from Sync for Reddit works so well.

That being said, it requires several manual steps which I personally don’t see myself doing every time I tweak a couple settings. Having them synced to a template would allow for each setting change to be applied to multiple accounts at once without additional steps.

I’m glad it’s this way. My accounts have different purposes, so I have different settings I like by default.

The workaround for that case is backup the settings from your first account and then restore it on your other accounts
