Personally I think it’s silly as hell. Qualia is obviously a biological component of experience… Not some weird thing that science will never be able to put in to words.
I’ve been listening to a lot of psychology podcasts lately and for some reason people seem obsessed with the idea despite you needing to make the same logical leaps to believe it as any sort of mysticism… Maybe I am just tripping idk

I think I just lost my brain cells reading this thread. There’s only one thing I learned: philosophers are just debatelords. Make bullshit up, with no evidence, just “disprove me, you can’t, therefore I win”.
Yeah philosophy is goofy af it’s all semantic arguing past each other. That was my entire point. Theoretically if we actually had something concrete to say we would be making a lot of sense to each other, but instead this entire thread was mostly spent yelling past each other.
Idk at the same time I definitely got bullied into gender abolitionist beliefs and veganism on this site so while it may seem fruitless I believe the cracks eventually form into something more substantive down the line.
i think you might just not personally like philosophy and are trying to make that into something bigger and more objective than it is. the first part is fine btw (not personally liking), it’s not for everyone, but this comm is presumably for people who do.
I love Hegel and Kierkegaard and Camus and Sartre. I am mostly being jovial by saying philosophy is all semantic bullshit, but I do believe the “hard problem of consciousness” is literally just semantic bullshit.
People say science doesn’t belong in philosophy… To me theorizing where “consciousness” comes from is putting philosophy into the realm of science.
