I think it is definitely cool, but the general reaction to it is exaggerated. I see way to many comments online about how this is huge and will disrupt the gaming market, when in reality it is not aiming for any of that. It will fill 2 niches, the entry PC niche and the living room PC/box niche, since that’s what this machine seems to be aimed at. Valve themselves already said it will not be priced like a console.
I saw people mentioning that Microsoft is aiming for something like this for the next Xbox, so it could very well be Valve getting their foot out the door first to also have a product to compare to when that eventually happens, and since this new Xbox approach is gonna be Windows based, it will probably be shit lmao.
The VR headset seems to be impressive, specially since it is Linux on ARM. But I never used a VR headset, so I can’t really tell if it really is all that impressive.
