Ok so I just watched Nope and I gotta talk about this. I could talk a lot about the symbolism and message about the entertainment industry which is fantastic too, but what I really want to talk about is the fact that this shit was legit the scariest movie I have ever seen. I’m not even joking.
Now let me be clear and say that I am not easily scared by horror movies. I find most horror movies either boring as hell or obnoxious. I’m not afraid of ghosts, demons, or slashers but for some reason

A FUCKING GIANT BED SHEET ALIEN SPOOKED ME
I mean for real the part where

it sucked a bunch of people up and they were all screaming and being digested legitimately made me physically ill
I still feel ill when I think about it. Too scary for me.
Get Out was good too, it didn’t scare me as much but I also found the

sunken place
pretty damn freaky.
It’s like Jordan Peele knows exactly what makes my skin crawl. Wow.
I haven’t seen Us but I assume that is good too, but if it’s anyting like Nope I will need an emotional support cushion to watch it lmao
Edit: Can confirm the film makers knew exactly what they were doing with that scene (from an interview with Jordan Peele):

“I created something that was claustrophobic and yet felt like you’re so massively out of any sense of control, and in that state with a group of people. Part of the true fear of this thing is being not just a victim, but one of many victims who are all screaming together is, I feel, a particularly helpless feeling. So I built, essentially, a tunnel, a tract, that we were ushering people through. And then there’s a larger sense of the interior of that space. It’s much more like a theater in itself. And there’s something of a bouncy-castle-from-hell energy going on with the way it conducts wind and all.”
Does the “child” from Eraserhead spook you? It did to me when I was a kid
Never seen it but now I know not to.
