If we ever turn socialist, Europe needs to be balkanized in order to make sure the European powers could never again rise up to the power they previously held and continue terrorizing the world.
So, how would we balkanize Europe? What would make a region of lets just say: France suitable to become independent and weaken France as a whole. What regions should become independent?
Don’t forget the Occitan speaking region in southern France. The French nation building project was constructed on cultural and linguistic genocide of the Occitan people. The most natural grouping of this region is not with northern France but with Catalonia which shares the same heritage. There are also parts of south-western France that would join a Basque Country.
