(CNN) - Joe Biden said he “shouldn’t have been so cavalier” on Thursday hours after he told a Jewish-American radio host who accosted Biden for sending lethal aid to Israel “Im the real Jew here. I support Israel and its right to self defense.”

The presidents comment came at the end of an at times tense interview followed by a short question and answer session at a League of Women Voters conference in Iowa

A man later identified as a Jewish person part of the pro-hamas group Jewish Voices for Peace said to biden “I’m gay, and I’m Jewish, and I don’t support Israel. How can you speak for all jews in America when so many of us don’t support apartheid?” The crowd began roaring at the protestor and Biden quickly snapped back, “Listen, we need to support our allies from bloodthirsty terrorist. I’m the real Jew here. I support Israel and its right to self defense. I denounce anti-sematism in all its forms”

A staffer interjected that Biden needed to go.

Later on Thursday afternoon, Biden addressed his comments in a call with the influential American Israel Public Affairs Committee saying, “I shouldn’t have been such an Irish honky” and insisting he doesn’t take Jewish voters for granted

“The bottom line of all of this perhaps I was much too cavalier. I know that the comments have come off like I was defining what it means to be Jewish and Im not, nothing could be further from the truth. I’ve never, ever done that and I’ve earned the Jewish vote every time I’ve run,” he said.

What does the US get out defending Israel?. This is not about historical reasons, I’m sure.

Let Isreal fend for themselves, geopolitics will Keep them in line. How come such a small young imperial formed country be such an influence in the President.

It’s a permanent military base for the US to use for any invasions and operations in the middle east. As Biden himself said, “if there were not an Israel, we would have to invent one”

Yes, sure. Although they do have military bases in Iraq, East Africa and probably more around the middle east area. Friendly with SA, Kuwait and others does help too.

Another proxy war I guess, what’s next Taiwan? Who knows, I don’t think it’s ever been this bad in my lifetime and I do remember the Gulf War.

Israel’s a proxy for the US and works as a legal bypass circuit for special operations and intelligence gathering; it works like 5 Eyes where those countries spy on each other’s citizens then shares that intelligence.

It’s a loaded gun meant to deter movements and exert influence in the ME

What does the US get out defending Israel?

the levant is geopolitically crucial because it provides West Asian access to the Mediterranean. Also it’s at the center of all the resource rich nations the US loves to fuck with.

What I absolutely hate is that Israel has been so effective with making the nation of Israel synonymous with Judaism that whenever I try to have a conversation about anti-BDS laws and how Israel has disproportionate influence on the US government people think I’m going on unhinged antisemitic conspiracy rants on how “the jews” secretly control everything
